Our Heritage

'From small beginnings, come great things'

KC Design House has evolved from its humble beginnings as a kitchen appliance retailer, and grown into a highly respected bespoke kitchen furniture and home interiors company, based near Denby Dale in West Yorkshire.

Erected in 2006, our KC designed and built showroom has become firmly established in the community and is now something of a local landmark. Furthermore, in 2021, we celebrated our 40-year anniversary, having survived 2 floods, 3 recessions, Brexit and a pandemic.

We recognise that a company is built on the strength of its people, and over the years, we have built a dedicated and skilled team guided by the vision and enterprise of KC Design House founder Richard Jewkes.

Proudly serving the local area and beyond, we continue to work hand in hand with our valued clients and look forward to many more successful and fulfilling years to come.

Our Team

'Always engaging, always evolving'

KC isn't about one individual.  Our foundation is built upon a strong team ethic where everyone is a vital link in the chain.

Over the years we have assembled a highly skilled and knowledgeable group with decades of experience,

covering a wide range of disciplines, including kitchen, interior and architectural design, spatial planning, project management, procurement and carpentry, and we're pleased to say there's not a salesperson in sight!

Never one to rest on our laurels, we are always thinking, always pursuing and always one step ahead.  Through client engagement, evaluation, and pushing boundaries, we aim to inspire and work collaboratively to produce

timeless and lasting solutions.

As a multi-disciplined team, we remain committed to quality and service, and we truly believe that there is always room for improvement.  A belief that motivates us to continually achieve the best possible results.

Our Craft

Nestled in the Yorkshire countryside, our thriving workshop is only steps away from our design house, providing a direct link between designers and makers.   We combine traditional time-served carpentry skills with modern-day techniques, and it is the passion and expertise of our craftsman that ensure our high standards are met, time and time again.

We also believe in the tried and tested route of apprenticeships and continually invest in the training and development of our cabinet makers and the rest of our team.

Truly bespoke, hand made and individually crafted.

Sustainability

With our roots firmly planted in the Yorkshire countryside, we cannot help but be reminded of the grace and beauty of our fine lands.  It serves as a constant reminder of just how important it is that we should all do our part to preserve and protect our world's natural and limited resources.

We are always striving for a more sustainable future, and believe that quality and longevity are important considerations when furnishing your home.  With this in mind, our furniture, and that of partner suppliers, is designed and built to last with a timeless aesthetic appeal.

All of our hardwood & sheet panels come from FSC sustainable sources.  Wood off-cuts are repurposed for biomass fuels, and wood shavings are collected by a local farmer for distribution on the land within 1 mile of the showroom.

Our state-of-the-art showroom is powered with Air Source heating, and the exterior glass façade is shielded by a Brise-Soleil to counteract the need for air conditioning, together with smart, automated LED lighting to preserve energy and lamp life.

Our team all make use of our composting and general office recycling facilities, and we offer cycle to work benefits for spirited team members who peddle to work under their own steam.

Lastly we are a member of and regular contributor to the Woodland Trust, the highly respected custodians of the UK’s woods for the past 50 years.   We have dedicated a whole area of woodland, which is alive with plants, insects and wildlife and for every kitchen we make, 3 new trees are planted.
